April 7th
Tonight was a supermoon. After working on the pool (yay it was an all out effort but we primed the pump) and cleaning around the pool and yard we took a golf cart rides with the dogs, Griffin drove, around he golf course and neighborhood. The moon was so bright and beautiful. Today was nearly 80° and perfect. This was supposed to be spring break for the kids. Our house is lit up green once again as we have lost 7 lives in Kentucky today. It was announced that Letcher County had their first positive case. But the numbers are becoming less important as they grow and grow. More and more testing is being done this the numbers only increase. More die. As I type this the current death rate of those in Kentucky who contract the virus is 6%. That's a scary number. My hope is that once more widespread testing is done we will see that number shrink. Many are recovering. But we know the numbers are incorrect. The virus is everywhere.
3 days ago the CDC and White House announced a mandate that all people wear a face covering in public. They suggest a hankerchief or scarf. As to not take away surgical and n95 masks from the medical professionals. The problem with cloth masks is that they prevent one from sneezing or coughing and expelling their germs fo others but do not protect one from others germs. Luckily, I have surgical masks from my portacath dressing kits and we have 3d printed n95 masks if we were to need them.
In regards to world leaders, yesterday it was announced the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (announced a week earlier as positive for covid-19) was admitted to the ICU. I didn't hear an update today. Many in his cabinet are also positive.
It is looking like this Quarintine may be much longer. I just cannot fathom how we will open back up until there is a vaccine available.
Conspiracy theorists are running amok at this time. No one believes this virus simply came from a market where people were eating bats in Wuhan, China, when there was a level 4 bio lab in Wuhan. No one believes the numbers from China. Personally I believe they are grossly underreporting. But none of that matters until we gain control of it here in the states.
In good news, New York City has reported less cases today than yesterday suggesting their apex may have been finally reached. However, many other cities like New Orleans, Detroit and LA are still climbing in numbers. Projections have Kenruckys apex about mid May. We can only hope our numbers stay lower and we are able to flatten the curve.
Sloane has been working on a project and I look forward to sharing photos. She has really worked hard and it is looking fantastic. 7 days until they turn 12.
