I thought this post was poignant to share.
A gentleman named Arnold Williamson posted this reply to a comment on Facebook.
Currently, the death rate in New York from COVID-19 is roughly one death every 7 minutes. Large refrigeration trucks have been brought on site to hospitals to serve as morgues for the extra bodies.
When someone dies from this virus in ICU, sadly, they die alone. Because the virus is so contagious, no visitors are allowed. There is no one there with them in their final moments, as they struggle to breathe. No family members to comfort them or hold their hand.
I have watched the President on television every day since this public health crisis began. I have watched him talk about many things. I have watched him say things that are untrue. I have watched him attack reporters and call them "nasty" for asking him hard questions. I have watched him complain that certain Governors aren't appreciating him enough. I heard him tell us weeks ago that anyone who wanted a test could go get a test, right now (you can't). I watched him congratulate himself for the "great deal" he worked out so all of us could run right out "very soon" and get a test at the local Walmart, Target, CVS or Walgreens (you can't). I have watched him crow mightily day after day about what a "beautiful" job he has done and how no one could have ever done a better job than he is. I have watched him promise we will have a cure "soon" based on his "good feeling," and I have watched him say he wants to do things that don't make any sense and would seem to put at risk the health of our citizens.
I have never heard him say one word of mourning or sadness about the now more than 5000 Americans who have died. I have never heard him speak any of their names, or talk about their lives or the families they leave behind. I have not heard him speak regret that they have lost their lives. I have not heard him speak of the sacrifice of the increasing number of healthcare workers and first responders who have fallen ill with this virus, some of whom have already died and, sadly, will likely not be the only ones to succumb before we get out of this.
Instead, this is what he cares about: himself. His television ratings. While Americans die, while doctors and nurses are scrambling to find the equipment they need to do their work safely, while we still do not have ample test kits, while Americans are quarantined in their homes looking for words of comfort and hope...he tweets about his television ratings, and how he has bested The Bachelor.
And some shinanigans for the day
