The Beginning 3/14/20

The beginning...

What a week this has been. As cruise ships and cities in the Northwest were beginning to see cases of the novel coronavirus several weeks ago we knew we were in for a significant disturbance in live as we knew. China had predominantly become the hub of the virus where it was believed as of present the virus began in humans at a Wuhan market where people ate foods such as bags and bat soup. It is believed the virus was caused from a coronavirus crossing over the animal world to humans there. Bats carry many coronaviruses and we do not get understand why that is and why the viruses don't seem to make bats sick. The large city of Wuhan was overrun with illness causing the totalitarian government of China to lock down the city.

Weeks before Chris and I left for Kuaui Hawaii on a trip his company had awarded him for his performance in 2019 that we had been looking forward to for a year, we began to hear news about he virus. I being immunocompromised worried about traveling and as days grew closer to leaving we saw more and more horror stories and videos out of Wuhan. It was like a scene out of an apocalypse movie. Hospitals overrun with the sick. People dropping dead in the streets. The CCP boarding homes of the infected that refused to stay quarantined. It was scary. My doctor advised that we could go but to take Lysol wipes, gloves and a mask for the flights there and back. Which we did. Then while in Hawaii we heard about a case of Covid-19 in cities like LA, Seattle and that someone had flown to Honolulu and became infected. Airports stepped up their sanitizer game, we cleaned and washed hands frequently and anyone who had been in China was told not to fly. Thankfully we enjoyed our trip and made it home safely.

For my kiddos:

My wish for you
Is that you continue

         Continue

To be who and how you are
To astonish a mean world
With your acts of kindness

         Continue

To allow humor to lighten the burden
Of your tender heart

         Continue

In a society dark with cruelty
To let the people hear the grandeur
Of God in the peals of your laughter

          Continue

To let your eloquence
Elevate the people to heights
They had only imagined

         Continue

To remind the people that
Each is as good as the other
And that no one is beneath
Nor above you

        Continue

To remember your own young years
And look with favor upon the lost
And the least and the lonely

        Continue

To put the mantle of your protection
Around the bodies of
The young and defenseless

        Continue

To take the hand of the despised
And diseased and walk proudly with them
In the high street
Some might see you and
Be encouraged to do likewise

         Continue

To plant a public kiss of concern
On the cheek of the sick
And the aged and infirm
And count that as a
Natural action to be expected

         Continue

To let gratitude be the pillow
Upon which you kneel to
Say your nightly prayer
And let faith be the bridge
You build to overcome evil
And welcome good

       Continue

To ignore no vision
Which comes to enlarge your range
And increase your spirit

       Continue

To dare to love deeply
And risk everything
For the good thing

       Continue

To float
Happily in the sea of infinite substance
Which set aside riches for you
Before you had a name

       Continue

And by doing so
You and your work
Will be able to continue
Eternally
